Somewhere around 2003, I was driving down Maple Street in Cortez and saw this pink house with a sign that read “Ivy’s Therapy Center”. My shoulders and neck were so tight I could hardly turn to see the sign, but I saw it. Hmmm! Could this be a sign trying to tell me something. So I went with those feelings and called for an appointment. That was one of the best decisions I have made.
For ten years I went to Ivy’s when my body was hurting--During those years when life stresses somehow land in your neck and shoulders or you wonder if your hips are going to hold you up for another week and you never have enough time for thinking about how your body feels. Then the inevitable happened. As I was hurrying from one place to another, I slipped on black ice and landed on those to tired hips, back and to tight shoulder and neck. I called Ivys and they started their treatments on my sore back side. Biweekly visits for a month and then every three weeks. During this time everything else was feeling better. Immune system, Digestive system, and skeletal system. Once again a sign showed me to look further into this. Talking with Wendy about how I was feeling, she suggested that I come in monthly (called the maintenance plan) and see how my body would feel. That was 2 ½ years ago and the monthly appointments have become a precious time to me.
Wendy has explained that the monthly visits assist with the circulation in my body. My immune system is strong which means I no longer “catch” all the sicknesses that go around the community. My stamina (for a woman of my age—have you heard that one yet?) is good. Sometimes I feel like the ever ready battery.
I feel blessed for having Ivy’s in our community and for being cognizant enough to see and follow those signs so many years ago. It is the best kept secret in Montezuma County. I am glad that I have finally begun to treat my body as the temple that it is. I suggest to everyone to take some time and let Ivy’s staff assist in healing the mind, body and spirit.
